Calliope is an AI-assisted writing app built around one rule: the assistant proposes, the writer disposes. The AI drafts in a side panel, but the document itself is a real editor (type, formatting, undo, the usual) and nothing the model writes lands in it silently.
The clearest expression of that is inline editing. Ask for a change to selected text and it comes back as a visible diff: the old passage struck through, the replacement highlighted, accept or dismiss. The same tracked-changes discipline a human editor would owe you.

Voice, sources and tone are settings, not prompts
The panel most writing tools don't have: context as structured input rather than prompt folklore. General Context holds the framing (“write from the point of view of someone who has never heard of waterbears”). Voice Style takes files or notes of prose to write like. Source of Truth pins the facts the piece isn't allowed to contradict.
Session settings do the rest: model choice, content type, stackable tones (Informal + Satirical at once), and sliders for formality and length. Below that, whole-document tools: translate, format, readability analysis, SEO.
The result is that a session is configured the way a brief is written, with audience, voice, facts and register set once, instead of being re-negotiated one prompt at a time.
